Dear Parents and Guardians,
The following Carline Procedure must be followed in order to provide a safe transition to school. With everyone’s help, we will not hold up traffic on the main road, which will avoid accidents.
Drive slowly through the parking lot at all times, even when your child has exited your car.
Morning Procedure:
All cars will use the carline which begins from the parking lot at the front of the building and goes along the back of the school and around the school yard.. Pull your cars up closely to the car in front of you to make room for more cars. This is very important. All of the extra space left between cars makes the lines go out into the main traffic. A staff member will direct you.
Parents of students in the self-contained classrooms will make arrangements with your child’s teacher, if necessary. There are two places where students can exit their cars. One is on the side door and the other is at the back of the school. Please have your child get out at the first stop if the traffic stops there. This is not an option to choose the place to enter the building.
Parents must not get out of their cars.
Please do not arrive too early. Doors open at 8:15 because that is when staff will be in the building.
All students will be responsible for unbuckling themselves and taking their backpacks out of their cars without adult support. Please do not put these in your trunks. They must be readily available. This is very important so that we do not stall traffic. Please practice with younger students.
Please kiss your child ahead so they are ready to get out of your car when it is their turn.
Once your child exits your car, drive forward and follow the other cars. Do not wait to watch your child enter the building. Staff will be there to help your child get safely to his/her classroom. This needs to be done quickly.
Never pass a car in front of you in case a child is still getting out of their car.
Afternoon Procedure:
Please do not arrive at the school before 2:30 because students may be in the playground.
In the afternoon, there are two car lines. One is for Kindergarten parents to pick up their Kindergarteners and older siblings. This is the shorter line. The other line is for all other car patrol students. All parents must stay in this line and not go ahead of other cars.
Pull your cars up closely to the car in front of you to make room for more cars. THIS IS IMPORTANT. This is how we make more room for cars.
No parents should get out of their cars. If your child needs more assistance, pull your car over to a parking spot and help him/her. This makes a significant difference in having traffic issues.
No car should ever go around another vehicle that is waiting for a child to board.
These procedures will be strictly adhered to for safety purposes.
It is important that all students arrive on time to school each day. Too many tardies will cause a call to parents to create a plan or a meeting will be held to make changes.
We will not dismiss students early close to dismissal time. After 2:30 parents will need to wait. Some parents have used this as a way to avoid the car line. These parents will have to wait until all other students are sent to their appropriate locations first. We do this for safety reasons. We have close to 350 students being dismissed at the same time and can not have students going in too many different directions.
If we all work together, the car line moves quickly. Dismissal is at 2:50. All parents are expected to pick up their children no later than 3:00. At this time, teachers and staff leave the building and we do not have enough help.
Thank you,
The Office Staff
