Dear Families,
As we head into December, we want to share some of the wonderful happenings at Highland and a few important reminders.
November Highlights
November was a busy and exciting month at Highland. We appreciated the strong turnout for teacher conferences and the community’s generous support during our annual Book Fair, helping to foster a love of reading among our students. Our Veterans Day Assembly was a meaningful way to honor those who have served, and students were thrilled to use our new book vending machine for the first time. At our PAWS assembly, we recognized positive behavior and school spirit. We were also proud to have three of our students lead the Pledge of Allegiance at the recent BOSC meeting. Finally, we celebrated outstanding attendance—thank you for making school a priority!
December Events & Reminders
Green 15 Attendance Challenge: This month, the grade level with the best attendance will win a hot chocolate party and enjoy a special viewing of “The Grinch” in the gym.
PTA Movie Night: Join us at Chunky’s on 12/10 at 5:30 PM for a fun family movie night.
Report Cards: Report cards will be sent home on 12/18.
Early Release: School will dismiss early at 11:15 AM on 12/23.
Winter Reminders
Stay Healthy: Please review our Stay at Home Guidelines to help keep our community healthy.
Dress for the Weather: Students should come to school with winter-appropriate clothing. Recess will take place outdoors unless the temperature drops below 20 degrees. To play in the snow, students need snow boots, snow pants, hats, jackets, and gloves or mittens. Without full snow gear, students must remain on the blacktop.
School Closings: The district will notify families of any delays or cancellations due to weather.
Car Patrol Safety
Students must remain seated in the car and only be dropped off at the designated car patrol locations—either at the back or side of the building.
Do not drop students off on Goffe’s Falls Road or allow them to walk onto school grounds from there.
At the side car patrol area, only let students exit the car when you’re stopped at one of the five marked cones.
Do not pass stopped cars. Proceed in a single file line.
Our staff will be there to assist and ensure everyone’s safety. Please drive slowly, follow staff instructions, and help us keep all students safe.
We’re looking forward to a joyful December and a restful holiday break. Thank you for your continued support!
